Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)

What you need to know

If you enroll in the Health Plus plan, you have access to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). The HRA is funded by BAE Systems, and you can use it to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses.

Here are the key features of the HRA:

If you participate in the Wellness Incentive Program, BAE Systems will automatically deposit incentive dollars—up to $800 per individual and $1,600 per couple to your HRA. You cannot contribute to the HRA.

You can use the HRA to pay for eligible medical and prescription drug expenses.

Any medical expenses you incur are paid first with incentive money in your HRA. Amounts paid by your HRA count toward your annual deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.

Any unused HRA balance, up to $6,800, rolls over to the next year to pay for future health care expenses.

Unlike the HSA, if you leave BAE Systems, elect a different medical plan, or do not enroll in a medical plan, you forfeit any unused funds in your account.

Using your HRA

In most cases, your doctor will not ask you to make a payment at the time of your office visit. Instead, your doctor will send your claim directly to Cigna.

Once your claim is processed, you may choose whether your HRA funds are the first dollars used to pay your portion of medical expenses.

If several family members have claims, the HRA will be used to help pay claims in the order that they are received.

If your doctor asks you for a payment before your claim is processed, you can pay yourself back for your out-of-pocket health care expenses. Use the online submission tool under Manage Claims & Balances on myCigna.com (From BAE Systems Network) | (Log In) or the paper form to request reimbursement from your account.
