What you need to know
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This year’s theme, “Turn Awareness into Action,” encourages individuals and communities to move beyond just recognizing the importance of mental health, and take concrete steps to improve mental well-being.
Why it matters
Mental health struggles are common in the U.S. and around the world, with more than one in five people in the U.S. living with mental illness. Despite how common mental health conditions are, stigmas often make it hard for people to seek treatment.
Prioritize your well-being
Your mental health matters. Take a quick quiz to help you assess your mental state, and explore these free resources from BAE Systems to support your well-being:
- Access the Confide/Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support and resources available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for you and members of your household, even if you are not enrolled in a Cigna medical plan. The program includes concierge services to help you find and schedule in-network mental health provider appointments. Through the Confide/EAP, you and members of your household are eligible for eight free sessions per issue, per calendar year.
- Try Talkspace: Confidential text and video-based therapy service that connects you to a dedicated, licensed therapist whom you can privately text message or chat with via live video anytime, anywhere.
- Connect with iPrevail: 24/7 online mental health support offered through Cigna that helps with overcoming stress, anxiousness, loneliness, and more through on-demand coaching, lessons, and support groups.
- Take a break with Happify: A fun, free, quick and easy app that helps you build confidence and reduce stress.
- Manage work and family responsibilities through Bright Horizons: Access child and elder care, college coaching, and virtual tutoring services.
- Boost your financial well-being with webinars hosted by Empower, our 401(k) Savings Plan service provider, to help you and your family members take charge of your finances.
- Access resources for veterans and their families: Get support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, during and after your deployment regardless of whether you are enrolled in a Cigna medical plan.
If you’re dealing with mental health or substance use issues
If you or a family member is struggling with mental health or substance use issues, behavioral health support through Cigna can help. You’ll receive quality care when, where, and how it works best for you through telephonic consultations or face-to-face, video-based services on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
