Paid Parental Leave

What you need to know

Paid Parental Leave (PPL) supports new parents by providing paid time away from work to care for and bond with a newborn or newly adopted child. You may use your PPL any time within the first year following the date of your child’s birth or adoption.

Full-time and part-time employees are eligible on date of hire. For births and adoptions of non-related children up to age 18, BAE Systems will provide:

  1. Full-time employee (40 hours): 160 hours paid at your regular rate of pay
  2. Part-time employee (20-39 hours): 120 hours paid at your regular rate of pay

PPL time must be used within the 12 months following the birth or adoption of your child.

In addition to full-day increments, PPL can be used in partial-day increments, on a continuous basis (single block of time) or intermittent basis (multiple periods of absence). This benefit is available in addition to other leave programs, such as PTO, mandated paid sick leave, state paid family leave, etc., allowing you to extend bonding time with your newborn or newly adopted child.

For more information about this benefit and how to obtain your hours, visit the Time Away from Work page on the BAE Systems Resource Center portal. You must be on the BAE Systems network to access the Resource Center portal.
