What you need to know
Save pretax dollars on your monthly commuting expenses through our commuter benefits program. Eligible expenses include those for public transportation, participating in a vanpool, or sharing an UberPool or Lyft Line.
Contribute up to $300 per month
You can set aside up to $300 pretax per month for qualified paid parking and public transportation. After you sign up for the program, your elected commuter benefits amount will be deducted from your first paycheck of every month before taxes are withheld. So you save money and reduce your taxable income.
Eligible program expenses include:
- UberPool and Lyft Line
- Bus, ferry, train, trolley tickets, and passes
- Parking expenses (meters, garages, and lots)
Plus, you can start, stop, or change your commuter benefits through BenefitsNavigator at any time throughout the year. Changes made by the tenth of every month will be applied to the upcoming month.
Enrolling in commuter benefits
Since these funds are taken out of your paycheck on a pretax basis, we recommend that you wait until you return to the office on a full-time basis before enrolling in the program. Select the Your Spending Account tile on the home page, and then click on the commuter benefits program under the Accounts section. Enroll and/or modify your elections on BenefitsNavigator. You must enroll by the tenth of each month in order to activate commuter benefits for the following month. You can set your order to recur on a monthly basis, or you can designate in advance which months you wish to receive your commuter benefits.
Enroll between the 1st and 10th of the month to participate the following month
If you would like to participate in the commuter benefits program, you’ll need to sign up between the 1st and the 10th of the month for your benefits to be active on the 1st of the following month. For example, you'd need to sign up between February 1 and February 10 for your benefits to be active March 1.
