Ensuring access to health care and well-being resources for all employees

In honor of Black History Month, BAE Systems is spotlighting the tools and resources we offer to help ensure health equity to all our employees and their families. Health equity means everyone has the ability to achieve their highest level of health – physical, financial, emotional, and social well-being.

At BAE Systems

Forging connections to community helps us personally and as a company. That’s why we encourage all employees to explore Employee Resource Groups to help find a sense of community at work. Open to all employees, these groups help promote collaboration across the organization, as well as providing a forum for learning, understanding, and supporting professional growth through internal and external networking, programs, and activities.

The BAE Systems African Americans Committed to Excellence (AACE) ERG has a slate of programs and activities in honor of Black History Month. You do not need to be a member of the AACE ERG to participate, but we encourage you to visit their OneSpace page to learn more about the discussions, speakers, and events still to come this month.

Physical

As a group, African Americans experience significant health disparities, such as increased risk of certain diseases and chronic conditions, and limited access to preventive screenings. Our health care provider, Cigna, understands the importance of addressing health disparities and is working to close these gaps. As a reminder, if you are a member of a BAE Systems Cigna medical plan, your medical plan offers:

  • Access to Cigna’s wellness programs, including personal health coaches and the Cigna 24-Hour Health Information Line featuring live support.
  • 100% coverage for preventive care (no deductible or out-of-pocket cost to you for annual physical exams, lab tests, and age-appropriate screenings).
  • 24/7 care through telehealth services that let you connect with a board-certified doctor through video chat without leaving your home or office.
  • Representatives who can help you research surgery options.
  • Access to convenient care for minor illnesses or routine vaccinations through retail or walk-in clinics at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and Target.

Financial

Systemic inequalities affect African American families trying to secure wealth and build financial wellness. Take advantage of the tools and resources we offer to promote financial equality, including:

  • Free live and on-demand financial webinars as well as tools and resources available through the Financial Education Center on BenefitsNavigator.
  • Access to competitive, unsecured short-term financial loans with a starting interest rate of 6% through Kashable.

Emotional

The emotional toll of COVID-19 has been hard on everyone, but the pandemic has disproportionately affected people of color. If you’re experiencing stress for any reason, the Resilience Hub offers ideas for ways to improve your well-being. And our Confide Behavioral Health Navigator / Employee Assistance Program (EAP), available to all employees and their household members, offers free access to a host of resources, including the following:
